Drupal and HTML5: Playing Well Together
Client side MVC JavaScript frameworks, nosql databases, JSON REST services: Does Drupal have a future in the World of HTML5? This presentation will outline some of the major advancements and features of html5 and cover how Drupal will fit into this new world order of web based applications. HTML5 applications are typically designed to live almost completely client side and only interact with a backend server via API calls. Gone are the days where you build server side web pages that mix PHP and html. Gone are the days where application flow is defined on the server. Gone too are the days of ubiquitous internet, high bandwidth and 22 inch monitors. Web applications now need to run on all types and sizes of devices, all types of bandwidth situations (even offline) and support a wide variety of low powered CPUs. In this presentation we will cover some of the ways Drupal can indeed be a major player within this new web development paradigm. Topics covered will include: HTML5 application design, HTML5 application flow, Drupal as a JSON server, how Drupal 8 will embrace this new web paradigm as well as other topics.
